The aim of the youth panel is to engage with young people and find out what priorities they would like the police to help address in their community. The main priority they highlighted was tackling youth disorder. The meeting was well received by all who attended.
PS O’Donohue attended the Wandle Valley ward panel meeting where the panel decided to start a new ward priority. They will be looking to tackle anti social behaviour by motorists, which will include dangerous driving, illegal parking and speeding.

Stonecot Safer Neighbourhood Team has been working to tackle boy racers who have been congregating at Tesco’s car park in Oldfields Road on Thursday evenings. Combined use of the CCTV van, local officers and specialist traffic units has enabled them to reduce the number of incidents, together with numerous ‘stops’ as well as tickets for various offences. All of which have helped to tackle this issue.
As the result of a disturbance call attended by the 999 response team, a brothel in London Road was located and closed down and the landlord suitably advised.
A number of drug dealers have been arrested after police observed a deal taking place between the occupants of two vehicles in a local car park.
Two males were seen tampering with a moped in Longfellow Road, Worcester Park. When realised they had been spotted they made off on a bus which was travelling towards Kingston. Worcester Park SNT gave chase and stopped the bus and arrested

Officers from Sutton Police station have closed down three cannabis factories following raids at three separate addresses in Carshalton and Sutton. About 100 plants were found at Waverley Way, Carshalton, whilst between 30-50 plants were found at the other two addresses in Oliver Road, Sutton, and Peterborough Road, Carshalton. Three men and three women have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
The properties raided included both privately owned and let premises. Police urge landlords to make regular checks on their lettings. It is in landlords’ interests to make regular checks as significant damage can be caused to properties as a result of these factories. Police ask residents to report comings and goings of occupiers at odd times of the day and night; curtains closed permanently to hide the blazing lights required to grow the plants; and sweet smells emanating from the property.

Officers from Sutton’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams spoke to dozens of residents and made around 50 ‘stops’ on individuals during a ‘Day of Action’ in Woodcote Road and Wallington Square.
Officers made one arrest for a deception offence and also issued £80 Fixed Penalty Notices to two drivers for having no insurance and three drivers for not wearing a seat belt.
The Day of Action occurred as a result of concerns raised by some residents following detailed engagement with the communities in Wallington. Residents had raised concerns about groups of youths and undesirable groups gathering, speeding vehicles, inconsiderate parking and litter.
Insp Colin Baker said: "These days are all about high visibility policing to reassure the public that we are listening to what they are telling us and taking appropriate action."

Dear residents,
Yes, it's time for your next instalment in our series of 'Driving out vehicle crime'.
WIPING OUT CAR CRIME
Get your free sat nav dusters/screen wipes as part of an ongoing campaign to drive out vehicle crime in the Borough
Merton Police and Safer Merton are handing out the complimentary wipes and dusters to wipe away the suction marks left by a satellite navigation system on your car windscreen. Even if you have taken your ‘sat nav’ with you, thieves spotting a suction mark may break in to see if it has been hidden in the glove box.
Getting rid of the marks will hopefully deter criminals looking for the tell tale signs and reduce the risk of unnecessary damage and cost to your vehicle.
Supt Pete DOBSON Partnership lead for Merton Police said, “I fully support this scheme and I urge the public of Merton to secure their vehicles, keep them free of valuables and remove suction marks to help reduce vehicle crime”.
Merton Police Crime Reduction Advisor Pc Greg HUNT said, "The Partnership is committed to keeping crime low by reducing vehicle crime. The theft of satellite navigation systems is one of the highest crimes at the moment, so taking a few seconds to get rid of the suction mark on your windscreen may save you hundreds of pounds in repairing a broken window and paying for a new sat nav”.
Screen wipes and sat nav dusters are available free of charge at the Partnership Roadshows through the year or by contacting your local Safer Neighbourhood Team. For further crime reduction advice contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
For any further information please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team via the main Met Police website by telephone or by e-mail.
Kind regards,

Dear members,
I would like to inform you of recent burglaries on Trinity ward where suspects have gained entry through unlocked front and rear doors.
If you do not double lock you doors suspects can use a device through the letterbox in order to open the door or steal items from within. Another possible entry (common in blocks of flats) is where suspects use a card to ‘swipe the lock’ in order to gain entry. Therefore it is very important to double lock all doors when you can, even when at home.
We would also remind you to lock all windows when leaving your premises and to not leave any valuables on display. When in your homes, do not leave keys or valuables within easy reach of the door and we would advise you to keep vehicle keys hidden.
Trinity Ward does not suffer with a high percentage of burglary, theses recent crimes have been opportunist crimes. It is important to encourage family, friends and local residents to be vigilant and more security conscious to assist the team in reducing crimes of this nature.
As part of our continuing efforts to reduce the number of burglary victims, Trinity Safer Neighbourhood’s Team will shortly be commencing a crime prevention initiative within the Ward. We will be offering all residents the opportunity of having an officer visit them in their homes to carry out a brief security survey. The survey will take about 15 minutes and is free of charge. It is entirely at your discretion whether you act upon any of the advice that is offered, but if you do it will reduce the possibility of you becoming a victim of burglary. All officers will be in uniform and will produce proof of their identity if required. If you would like a member of the team to call round, please contact the team to arrange an appointment.

Dear residents,
There has been a reduction in Colliers Wood crime figures for the last two weeks both burglary and vehicle crime are down. The team have been engaged in an a traffic operation this week essentially to deter burglary and disrupt the movement of burglars. We have also worked with the waste management team at Merton to address persons flytipping and dropping litter. The Anti Social Behaviour Issues in SW17 have been a lot better this week but we continue to monitor this.Robbery was the previous priority (no robberies in the last 2 weeks) but, to support our surrounding wards, we are assisting with staffing a Police Van over the next week on London Road, SW17 as previously mentioned. This seems to be an area where robberies have occured so we are there to deter offences and reassurance the public.
DRIVE OUT VEHICLE CRIME
The campaign started in January continues with UV pen marking of vulnerable property, security registration plate screws and free sat nav dusters/screen wipes to clean off the mark from your windscreen all available.
Screen wipes and sat nav dusters are available free of charge at the Partnership Roadshows through the year or by contacting your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Please ensure you take all precautions you can to secure bicycles and garages as this accounts for a lot of reported burglary. If you need further advice in this respect please contact us.
As always, your Safer Neighbourhoods Team patrol on foot, pedal cycle and motorcycle. Please feel free to stop and speak to them concerning any issues.

Things have picked up on the ward in February with a slight rise in vehicle crime and burglary.
Of note for burglary there has been the first letter box burglary on the ward for a long time. This is where during the night hours someone has put their hand through the letter box and reached in to unlock the door. If they cannot reach the keys directly they will use a tool to hook them. They then usually take small electronic goods from downstairs and leave with the car from the house.
While quite alarming there is very rarely any confrontation and it can easily be prevented by keeping your keys out of sight from the front door.
