Ravensbury Ward has teamed together with the other Morden Wards and conducted two automatic number plate operations (ANPR) since our last update. This has resulted in three arrests, including one motorist who was arrested for driving whilst disqualified and the vehicle being seized for no insurance. The driver was subsequently charged and bailed to Wimbledon Magistrates court on the 31/03/2009.
Another driver was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent and drink driving. The vehicle in question was seized and taken to a pound thereby removing uninsured vehicles from the roads. The driver is currently on bail awaiting further police enquiries.
The team has continued to deal with anti social behaviour and in particular cycling on the pavement. Numerous offenders have been stopped and dealt with in order to safeguard pedestrians’ safety.
The team has also targeted road safety issues and ticketed a high number of motorists who were using their mobile phones whilst driving. On Thursday the 26th March 2009 one such driver was stopped on London Road, Morden. After conducting checks, the male was arrested as he was shown to be wanted on a warrant issued by Berkshire Magistrate’s Court.
The team has continued to conduct high visibility ‘dust patrols’ across the Ward to address community concerns and provide reassurance to the public.
The Wards current priorities are:
• Anti social behaviour by motorist
• Anti social behaviour in general
• School truancy
Our next Ward Drop-In-Surgery is scheduled for Saturday 25th April 2009 14.00-16.00 hrs at Morden Hall Park
