Meet the Street in Lower Morden 23 Jul 08:51
Meet The Streets Reported Crime across the Metropolitan District is on the decrease however, the “Fear of Crime” is still ever present and tackling this is seen as one of our greatest ongoing challenges. The Safer Neighbourhoods strategy continues to develop excellent communication links within the community, and reassure the public of the continued work of your SNT to combat crime/ ASB. To this end Merton Police have created a strategy with the objective of visiting every household and retail/business premises on the Ward over the next 12-24 months period. The aim is to increase awareness of the SNT’s and our ongoing work and success’s, enhance communication links and advise residents of the complete coverage of established NHW’s, and continue the CommunitySafe project. By obtaining e-mails and the consent of that person, they will agree to receive further updates from their local SNT via CommunitySafe. Lower Morden SNT will be starting this strategy shortly; during this time high visibility patrols across the ward will continue. Officers will also be linking this work in with our attempts to install an alleygate in every alley in Lower Morden to assist crime prevention. The team will attend and give residents an update on what stage there alleygate scheme is at or try to start a new scheme in that road. In the forthcoming weeks the team will be rolling out the Meet the Street initiative in Salcombe Drive, Dunster Ave and the few houses on Stonecot Hill. The next public meeting that the team are holding is with PCSO Duncan PECK at Wyevale Garden centre on 24th July 2010 between 1200 - 1400 hrs. The team continues to work with the local community and visitors to Lower Morden Ward to ensure public safety and Lower Morden continues to be one of the safest wards in London. If you have any concerns re crime or Anti Social Behaviour please contact the team on 0208 721 2456 or email LowerMorden.SNT@met.police.uk Thanks Stuart WILTSHIRE PS3VW
