Crime Alert re Garage Burglaries 07 Jul 20:40
Lower Morden Communitysafe July 2010 It has been brought to the team’s attention that the garage burglaries are still occurring across the Ward. The main property being stolen by offenders at present would appear to be pedal cycles. Can the team emphasis to residents that if pedal cycles are being stored in sheds and garages that they are padlocked whilst being stored. The team also would ask residents that they record frame numbers of the pedal cycles. This then allows police to trace stolen property when in the hands of suspected offenders. A useful website for residents to register the IMEI number of their mobile telephone and frame numbers of pedal cycles is the Immobilise website. www.immobilise.com. The details can be recorded and when necessary can be lost or stolen. When police come into contact with people with phones/ pedal cycle that cannot be accounted for or suspicious the IMEI/ frame number will be run through this system. When there is a phone/pedal cycle found on the system this allows police to contact loser’s and ensure offenders are prosecuted. The team are trying to set up as many Alleygate Schemes as possible across the ward. This is to prevent access by allowed to opportunist thieves into these areas. Anyone interested in an alleygate scheme can email the team and officers will contact you and discuss these schemes. The team continues to work with the local community and visitors to Lower Morden Ward to ensure public safety and Lower Morden continues to be one of the safest wards in London. If you have any concerns re crime or Anti Social Behaviour please contact the team on 0208 721 2456 or email LowerMorden.SNT@met.police.uk Thanks Stuart WILTSHIRE PS3VW
