Lower Morden Newsletter 23 Jun 17:14
Lower Morden Communitysafe 23rd June 2010 There was a Ward Panel Meeting on Thursday 17th June 2010. The Ward Panel has decided that the team will work on the following Ward Priorities. 1) Non Residential Burglaries including garages and industrial units Although there has been a small number of recent reports to Police of crime, the Ward Panel feel that some more work in this area would assist with reassurance. The team will look to identify areas that are being targeted and where possible offer more crime prevention advice to the industrial units. 2) Residential Burglary There has been an increase of burglaries throughout the ward. This is minimal but as always the entry by perpetrators is via rear alleys. However these offences appear to be concentrated around Garth Road. The long term plan for these alleyways is the erection of alleygates where requested and agreed by residents. 3) ASB in Open Spaces Due to the coming of summer and the hanging around of youths and underage drinking it has been decided that this will be a priority. This will consist of the High Visibility Patrols and robust enforcement of the law. This will clearly be a priority during the longer days of July, August and September. A useful website for residents to register the IMEI number of their mobile telephone is the Immobilise website. Email- www.immobilise.com. The details can be recorded and when necessary can be lost or stolen. When police come into contact with people with phones that cannot be accounted for or suspicious the IMEI number will be run through this system. When there is a phone found on the system this allows police to contact loser’s and ensure offenders are prosecuted. Have Your Say on Policing in London The Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) is consulting on London's policing priorities and is interested in the opinion of people in your ward. The MPA would be grateful if you could disseminate details of the consultation to your ward contacts including Key Individual Networks (KINs), ward panel members and anyone else who you think might like to take part. People can take part in the consultation by completing a short questionnaire online (www.mpa.gov.uk/publications/policingplans/haveyoursay/) or calling 020 7202 0063 for a paper copy or telephone questionnaire. The Have Your Say on Policing in London consultation closes on Friday 26 November 2010. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer with the consultation. The team continues to work with the local community and visitors to Lower Morden Ward to ensure public safety and Lower Morden continues to be one of the safest wards in London.
