Meeting of Ward Panel
The Ward Panel meet last week and have decided that the team will work on the following priorities. Over the next few weeks we will update you on actions we have taken to deal with these issues.
Garage Burglaries in roads bordering STONECOT HILL, SUTTON.
There has been an increase in garage break-ins in the area. The team are carrying out extra patrols in this area, in plain clothes and HVP. The team have also changed their shifts to cover more hours in the day to prevent/ arrest the offender.
Criminal Damage to Motor Vehicle in LYNMOUTH AVENUE, MORDEN
Recently a number of vehicles in this road have had their tyres slashed. It is unclear the reason for this. The team will patrol the area and endeavour to utilise any proactive tactics available to them to detect the offender.
Anti Social Behaviour by youths in FOUR ACRES, MORDEN
At this time of the year this is an increase in the youths that hang about near the brook on the estate. The team are looking to patrol the area and engage with this people to deter this activity. The team will also consult with the council in an attempt to design out areas that are attractive to the individuals on this estate.
Anti Social Behaviour on BEAVER CLOSE, MORDEN
The team have received a number of emails about various issues in regards to various degrees of unsocialable behaviour in this area. The team will work with the Housing Association and Council to identify individuals involved. The team will also in the next few weeks be spending two days with the mobile reassurance bus. This is to allow residents an opportunity to speak to officers about issues.
CRIME ALERT
Can all elderly residents be made aware that at present the Morden area is suffering a spate of burglaries by a female stating to be from Social Services. The female then gains access to the property before stealing money and valuables. Please can elderly and vulnerable residents be made aware to be extra vigilant with unexpected visitors to their home address.
Press Release
New recruit to Merton Borough
PCSO Steve has arrived as a permanent attachment to the Borough, kindly funded by Safer Merton’s Joint Tasking Group. He will be based at Mitcham Police Station and will be available for guest appearances at local schools and events in the Borough. In the past PCSO Steve’s valuable time had to be shared by a large number of London boroughs making his availability limited.
PC Louise Vickers successfully applied for funding to Safer Merton’s Joint Tasking Group which now enables PCSO Steve to be in Merton Borough on a full time basis. Inspector Jon Phillips stated “This will give the children of Merton more opportunities to meet PCSO Steve and for important messages to be delivered in a fun and friendly way, as well as introducing pupils to their local Safer Neighbourhood Team thereby building stronger community links.”
If you would like PCSO Steve to visit your school then please contact your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.
The teams next Community Bus is on 25th March 2010 between 6pm and 8pm. The team will be in Lynmouth Avenue, Morden near the alleyway to Garth Close. If you have any issue or concerns about crime please come and talk to us.
The team continues to work with the local community and visitors to Lower Morden Ward to ensure public safety and Lower Morden continues to be one of the safest wards in London. If you have any concerns re crime or Anti Social Behaviour please contact the team on 0208 721 2456 or email LowerMorden.SNT@met.police.uk
