Lower Morden Newsletter for 19th Feb 2010 Updates on Ward Priority 1) Burglary High Visibility patrols continue in and around the alleyways and roads that have been targeted. Parts of Lymouth Avenue and Carlingford Road, Morden have had officers from the team carryout Home Security Surveys. These surveys are to inform residents of any vulnerability in their security. Duncan and Clare attended a meeting with the Council and residents of Tudor Drive and Dudley Drive re the starting of a committee in the implementation of the alleygate in this location. 2) ASB by Youths The youth club in King George’s Playing Field held a disco on Friday 12th Feb 2010 and there were no reported issues from the venue. The numbers of youths on the ward are still low. However the team continue to patrol locations historically known to attract youths. Ie Four Acres Estate and Tudor Drive 3) ASB by Motorists Drivers using their mobile phones where targeted on the 10th Feb 2010 in Hillcross Avenue, Morden. During this two hour operation only a small number of vehicles where stopped and two tickets given for offences. On Thursday 18th Feb 2010, Lower Morden team assisted with an Automatic Number Plate Recognition operation in Morden. Over 20 vehicles where stopped for various offences. 4) Motor Vehicle Crime The team continue to complete High Visibility Patrols throughout the Ward and highlighting vehicles with valuables left in them. A Motor Vehicle Clinic was held outside the Co-op on Grand Drive, Morden. Motorists and passers by where given leaflets with crime prevention and also number plate screws and cleaning clothes to remove marks from their windscreens caused by sat nav holders. The team continues to provide an effective police response to issue concerning the residents/ visitors to Lower Morden Ward.
