Lower M orden Priorities Update 31 Jan 12:24
Lower Morden Newsletter for 31st January 2010 On Thursday 21st January 2010 the Lower Morden Ward Panel met and after lengthy discussion it was agreed that the team will continue to work on the priorities they have already been set. Updates on Ward Priority 1) Burglary The team continue to canvas for support for alleygate schemes. Two of these schemes in Dudley Drive are close to completion. For the team burglary is the priority that we work the most on. Patrols of areas that have historically or currently being targeted are increased. New Home Security scheme has started where the team will patrol a road and homeowners informed of any security issues that may make their property vulnerable. In the period of June 2008 - Dec 2008, Lower Morden had 27 residential burglaries. In the same period in 2009 this has fallen to 9. 2) ASB by Youths Patrols have continued in the areas of Four Acres Estate and the alleys of Tudor Drive. A couple of youths have been stopped in these areas. At the time of interaction with police they have not be causing any anti social problems. Patrols will continue in this area. 3) ASB by Motorists The team assisted by officers from other Safer Neighbourhoods team carried out an Automated Number Plate Recognition Operation in Hillcross Avenue. During this operation 27 vehicles where stopped for various reasons. Five drivers where reported for offences including driving whilst on a mobile phone and no insurance. Another driver had their vehicle seized from them due to not having the appropriate driving licence. These operations will continue throughout the year. 4) Motor Vehicle Crime For this priority we are attempting to work on education towards vehicle owners. If valuables are not left in a vehicle then it will not be stolen. Members of the team are currently (until 2pm) at the Co- Op in Grand Drive handed out crime advice leaflets re car security. They are also handing out number plate’s screws and handy reminder air fresheners. The Drive Out Vehicle crime campaign continues and the February instalment should have been delivered to your email early this week. The team continues to provide an effective police response to issue concerning the residents/ visitors to Lower Morden Ward. If you have any concerns re crime or Anti Social Behaviour please contact the team on 0208 721 2456 or email LowerMorden.SNT@met.police.uk Thanks Stuart WILTSHIRE PS3VW
