Dear residents, Colliers Wood crime figures for the last three weeks is healthy, with six residential burglaries, six theft from vehicles and four theft of vehicles. The Anti Social Behaviour Issues in SW17 are still with us, but incidents of this type of behaviour are to a much lesser degree. Our newest priority, littering/flytipping, has got off to a great start. Your SNT accompanied Merton Council officials and assisted in issuing a number of penalty notices around Colliers Wood. The Community Pay back scheme, which utilises offenders sentenced by the Courts with community service, was used in Boundary Road footpath towards Plough Lane to tidy and paint over the fencing. A big thank you to the Colliers Wood Residents Association for clearing the pond in the Myrna Close Nature trail. A particularly horrible job, but they recovered computers and a handbag (not currently linked with any crime). DRIVE OUT VEHICLE CRIME This campaign started in January with UV pen marking of vulnerable property, security registration plate screws and free sat nav dusters/screen wipes to clean off the mark from your windscreen. Even if you have taken your ‘sat nav’ with you, thieves spotting a suction mark may break in to see if it has been hidden in the glove box. Getting rid of the marks will hopefully deter criminals looking for the tell tale signs and reduce the risk of unnecessary damage and cost to you. On Saturday 1st May 2010, the Borough are organising an event at the Tandem Centre in Colliers Wood all to do with vehicle crime and safety. Autoglass will be present giving free windscreen checks/advice, Dee Bee Tyres from Colliers Wood will be giving free tread and tyre pressure checks, whilst Hartgate Motorcycles from Mitcham will be giving motorcycle security advice. Your SNT team will also be present giving advice on all issues. As always, your Safer Neighbourhoods Team patrol on foot, pedal cycle and motorcycle.
