Residents of Hillside on 21st January 2010 we held our ward panel meeting at Elys Store, St Georges Road, Wimbledon. The priorities were set for your team to work on for the next few months. The priorities set are as follows along with what we propose to do to combat these concerns. a)Burglary- The team will be continuing to patrol the ward in uniform and plain clothes . The team will be holding weekly street briefings across the ward in order to offer residents crime prevention advice ( please check website below for details). b) Anti Social Behaviour- Again disorder in the town centre was set as a priority. Your team is committed to making the town centre safer and we are working closely with partners to reduce instances of Anti social behaviour. There will be an increased presence with the town centre. c) Theft Person (Pickpocketing)- Despite repeated calls for the public to be vigilant around personal possessions , there has been a rise in reports of theft from the person. Your team will be working closely with the Town Centre Team to identify and prosecute offenders. I would ask residents to be careful with open handbags and laptops , particularly in coffee shops. Your team has recently recieved a training session into tactics used by these criminals . We hope to report a reduction in reported incidents in the next 3 months. d) Graffiti-We will be working closely again with Merton Council to try and reduce graffiti on the ward.Darlaston Passage and The Old B& Q site Alexanadra Road are causing you concern. The team are determined to make Hillside safer but we need your help . Please follow the simple crime prevention advice which we frequently put out on community safe and come see us at our street briefings. We cannot help you unless the team know what concerns you have.
