POLLARDS HILL SNT tackles Serious Youth Violence 14 Apr 15:32
On 07/04/2010 officers from Pollards Hill SNT were called to Mitcham fair on Mitcham Common due to a call from security stating that a group of youths were carrying offensive weapons. Officers attended, one went straight to the fair security guards and the others went to the top of the hill to get a good view of the area. On arriving at the scene the group of youths were seen and full descriptions taken. A group was stopped a short distance away and subsequently searched for offensive weapons. As a result a 13-year-old male was arrested after being found in possession of a Ninja Star style bladed weapon and another bladed article. He has been bailed to appear at Wimbledon Youth Court in the near future. Police activity is aimed at protecting the public from those who break the law by carrying knives and other prohibited weapons. To assist police in tackling knife related crime , screening arches are used in different locations to assist in the detection of knives and other weapons of which one was recently held at Harris Academy and Pollards Hill Safer Neighbourhood team will continue to conduct these operations in the future.
