Severe Weather Warning Update

November 22, 2008 12:50

The Met Office have issued an updated Severe Weather Warning.

There is a moderate risk of a short-lived severe weather event spreading from the west across many northern, central and eastern parts of Britain during the first half of Sunday. A spell of snow will be followed by rain falling onto frozen surfaces which could give widespread ice for a time on roads and pavements. There is the potential for 2 to 5cm of snow and locally up to 10cm before a thaw sets in from the west.

Please check www.metoffice.gov.uk for details

Severe Weather Warning

November 21, 2008 11:30

A Severe Weather Warning has been issued by the Met Office for this weekend. At present it does not affect London and the Southeast of England. There is likely to be another warning issued relating to Sunday. This is for a potentially more disruptive problem with freezing rain and black ice on Sunday morning which potentially could affect much of the London area for a time on Sunday morning. The band of precipitation (some snow may be also be seen) will bring with it eventually some milder air but road and pavement conditions could be treacherous for a time on Sunday morning. It will be worth checking the Met Office web pages on Saturday (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/se_forecast_warnings.html) for the latest situation regarding this .
