Police were concerned for the safety of Rita Wright, a 73-year-old lady who went missing in central London. Mrs Wright has now been found, safe and well. |
|
Police are appealing for help in tracing a missing woman last seen in the busy West End.
Rita Wright (27.8.38 - 73 ys) of Birmingham is visiting her granddaughter's home in Cathcart Road SW10 over the Christmas period.
Rita suffers from dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) - a form of dementia that shares characteristics with both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. As such she may appear disorientated or confused.
On Christmas Eve (24 December) she was out her family amongst the last-minute Christmas shoppers, but wandered away from them. She was last seen coming out of the Selfridges store on Oxford Street W1, at the junction with Duke Street, at approx. 10.40hrs.
Rita was heading towards Oxford Circus.
There has been no sighting since that time and our concern is growing as time passes without any news.
Rita is white and of proportionate build. She is 4ft 9 tall, and was wearing a beige three-quarter length rain coat, black leggings (over which were distinctive pink spotted socks), and she was carrying a brown bag.
She has platinum blonde hair - straight and shoulder length

There have been reports of buildings being marked with posters and stickers in the City this morning. Can your security periodically check the exterior of your premises and report anything unusual or suspicious to police immediately. Please email the information to Communities Together at Communities.Together@met.pnn.police.uk and where possible attach a photograph or provide as much detail as possible. Photograph the markings in situ and where possible remove from the building and consider the preservation of evidence by placing in an envelope.
