Update Appeal:Missing Person found

December 26, 2011 05:30

Police were concerned for the safety of Rita Wright, a 73-year-old lady who went missing in central London.

Mrs Wright has now been found, safe and well.

Appeal:Missing Person.

December 25, 2011 16:38

Police are appealing for help in tracing a missing woman last seen in the busy West End.

Rita Wright (27.8.38 - 73 ys) of Birmingham is visiting her

granddaughter's home in Cathcart Road SW10 over the Christmas period.

Rita suffers from dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) - a form of dementia

that shares characteristics with both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's

diseases. As such she may appear disorientated or confused.

On Christmas Eve (24 December) she was out her family amongst the

last-minute Christmas shoppers, but wandered away from them. She was

last seen coming out of the Selfridges store on Oxford Street W1, at the junction with Duke Street, at approx. 10.40hrs.

Rita was heading towards Oxford Circus.

There has been no sighting since that time and our concern is growing as time passes without any news.

Rita is white and of proportionate build. She is 4ft 9 tall, and was

wearing a beige three-quarter length rain coat, black leggings (over

which were distinctive pink spotted socks), and she was carrying a brown bag.

She has platinum blonde hair - straight and shoulder length

Anyone with information should call Kensington and Chelsea Police on 0207 376 1212.

National Day of Protest UK Uncut - 17.12.11

National Day of Protest

‘UK Uncut Christmas Special’

Information for Businesses

UK Uncut has recently announced an event entitled ‘Christmas Special’, which is being promoted to take
place on Saturday, 17 December 2011 between 1300 hours and 1700 hours. The stated aims of this protest
are to highlight the government austerity measures and non payment of tax. It is their intention to target
high street retail business premises. Recent events have shown that this has predominately taken place in
Central London. We would advise all retail sectors within Greater London to consider the following
guidance, which is by no means exhaustive.

The Metropolitan Police Service is fully aware of the potential impact of any major event on the local
business community and is well equipped to deal with events like this. We have an appropriate and
proportionate policing plan in place and are working closely with our strategic business partners to ensure
that any disruption is kept to a minimum whilst at the same time aiming to police and facilitate peaceful
protest.

The following guidance has been produced to help businesses to prepare for any incidents which may arise
as a result of this activity in the Metropolitan Police Area.

Keep up to date with latest information

For live updates on the progress of this event you can also subscribe to the official free police community

Contact numbers

In the event of an emergency call the emergency number 999.

In the event of a situation that does not require an emergency response, please call 101 (calls to 101 from
landlines and mobiles cost 15 pence per call, no matter what time of day you call or how long your call
lasts).

If you have information about crime, you can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Security Advice

Ensure that all staff are fully briefed.

Security officers, where possible, should have a visible presence at premises.

It would be advisable that a senior manager make himself/herself identifiable to police in the event of an
incursion into your business premises.

Ensure that your exit/entry points are monitored and that you are able to lock and secure any points of entry
if required to do so.

Be alert to large groups forming outside of business points of entry and ensure staff remain vigilant and
report any suspicious activity to security and/or police.

Check that your emergency equipment supplies and radio communications systems are stocked and fully
operational at all times.

Crime

If you identify any unusual markings on your building please report immediately to police.

If crime is committed or an incursion takes place in your premises consider the preservation of evidence,
where possible, on the advice of police.

Ensure CCTV coverage is fully operational and can provide the highest possible recorded resolution.

What you can expect to see

You may notice officers outside some premises this is because during recent protests some buildings have
been targeted and damaged.

The officers are there to protect these buildings and to assist those inside to go about their daily business
and to deal with any incidents of crime and disorder.

All officer will be uniquely identifiable by a series of numbers, letters or both which will be visible on their
outer clothing.

GSZ1412.6 DR Congo Demonstration

December 14, 2011 19:22

Regarding today's DR Congo demonstration. All the demonstrators have been moved to Trafalgar Square and their numbers are dwindling considerably. Roads are being opened up and things appear to be getting back to 'normal'. In light of this, I don't anticipate any further CommunitySafe updates unless there is significant change.

Thanks for your attention today.

Historically demonstrators have been known to identify and discreetly highlight business premises of interest.

There have been reports of buildings being marked with posters and stickers in the City this morning. Can your security periodically check the exterior of your premises and report anything unusual or suspicious to police immediately. Please email the information to Communities Together at Communities.Together@met.pnn.police.uk and where possible attach a photograph or provide as much detail as possible.

Photograph the markings in situ and where possible remove from the building and consider the preservation of evidence by placing in an envelope. Handle the evidence as little as possible in order to preserve the integrity of the exhibit

Empty buildings 30Nov11

November 30, 2011 10:32

A recent number of events have led to land or empty buildings being occupied.

The MPS and CoLP would advise as a precaution that any empty buildings in your control are secured.

A recent occupation has identified a risk from asbestos within the building to be renovated. It may be advisable to ensure such buildings are clearly marked with hazard warnings.

Employer Supported Policing Programme

The Metropolitan Police are offering a powerful opportunity to businesses across the capital. It delivers business security, staff development, additional policing around premises, corporate social responsibility and, especially important in 2012, business continuity and resilience. Best of all, the Metropolitan Police  fund the scheme, in return for you donating some of your staff's time through a small amount of paid leave each month.

Virtually any reputable business of almost any size can take part, but in order to get the maximum benefit across the period from the Queen's Diamond Jubilee to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, your business must get involved by the end of November 2011.

Take a look at

www.met.police.uk/esp/learn_more

now and don't miss this opportunity for a huge boost to your business in 2012 and well beyond.
