An "Early warning of severe or extreme weather" has been issued by the Met Office as follows: Outbreaks of rain during Monday evening are likely to become heavier and more persistent especially in eastern parts of England and, later, Scotland. The rain is expected to move northwards overnight Monday night and into Tuesday. Some torrential downpours are likely, with totals of 30 to 50 mm in places, and a lower risk of up to 75 mm. The heavy rain could lead to flooding in some areas and disruption could occur to transport networks.
