The Royal Wedding Friday 29 April 2011 Information for Businesses. On Friday 29th April 2011 HRH Prince William will marry Miss Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey. The ceremony will commence at 11.00 am and at 12.15pm the wedding procession will leave Westminster Abbey and will travel to Buckingham Palace along the following route: Parliament Square, Whitehall, Horse Guards Arch, Horse Guards Road and The Mall. Friday 29th April will be a public holiday and it is likely that large numbers of people will make their way into central London to take part in the celebrations. This may result in areas of the capital becoming congested and there will be road closures in and around Westminster from 06.00am or earlier. Whilst the MPS will try to keep any disruption to a minimum, it is possible that on the day of the Royal Wedding you may need to make alternative arrangements for any collections or deliveries that you might normally receive. The royal celebrations are also likely to attract large numbers of people in to central London who wish join in with the festivities. Please ensure that you have sufficient staff or security to deal with the increased numbers of people expected to visit central London. Whilst this is a day of celebration criminals can use large crowds as a cover to commit crime so please ensure that your usual security measures are in place and that your staff are fully briefed on your security procedures and remain vigilant. To summarise the key points on security are; Have a strict security operation in place Ensure regular external patrols either physical or CCTV Monitor external CCTV constantly Insist all staff entering show ID Do not allow any unknown persons into foyer Report all suspicious behaviour to Police immediately via 999 Report all suspicous gatherings of people to Police immediately. There is no intelligence to suggest that disorder is is likely but we are not complacent and are continuing to investigate the potential for such criminal activity. As a precaution, there is a comprehensive policing plan to deal swiftly with any incidents we have not been able to prevent. Updates on the day will be sent out via Community Safe.
