Dear Member, Following on from COMMUNITY ALERT - January 13th 2010. Warwick Ward Safer Neighbourhood Team are pleased to inform you of the successful operation listed below. Warwick Ward Safer Neighbourhood Police Team update 01/05/2010. The Abbots Manor Estate is the largest housing estate within the Warwick voting ward. A number of residents on the estate have been victim to a series of burglaries targeting vulnerable and elderly residents. These burglaries were carried out by one individual who posed as an old friend or local care worker gaining the confidence of the victim to enter their flat and steal money and valuables. The challenge faced by the Warwick ward safer neighbourhood team led by Sergeant Chris SADLER was to prevent any further burglaries and apprehend the suspect. The Warwick SN team immediately held a police surgery on the estate and personally leafleted every address on the estate regarding crime prevention. Also those residents who had access to email received an immediate update on COMMUNITY SAFE website. Patrols were increased in and around this estate. At the same time dedicated officers from Warwick SNT attempted to identify this individual. After canvassing door to door, a suspect description emerged this information was shared with one of our many partners the landlord City West Homes. The Police team working with their partner viewed hours of CCTV footage on the estate. This resulted in the suspect being identified on film. The police investigation then entered a new stage to identify the individual’s identity. Due to the diligence of the investigating police officers the individual’s identity was established. The individual was arrested at her home address and she was charged with 1 count of Burglary, 1 Count of attempted Burglary and 1 count of theft. She was not granted bail and will appear at CITY OF WESTMINSTER MAGISTRATES COURT in MAY 2010.
