Lambeth South Volunteer Police Cadet Staff and teachers from Bishop Thomas Grant School helped raise over £2000 for the Lambeth Cadets. The staff and teachers raised the cash by climbing and walking two of Britain's highest mountains. PC Paul Dowsett, Cadet leader said " The staff and teachers gave up their weekend to climb two very challenging mountains including Snowdon. Pupils, parents and friends of the Cadets gave over their hard earned cash in support of the staff" The money raised will go towards increasing the amount of cadets that attend the weekly meetings. It will also allow for extra diversionary weekends away and community engagement.
On another positive note, a brand new minibus has been bought for the Boroughs Cadets. PC Dowsett said "This has taken nearly 3 years to get outside funding for. I would like to thank Inspector Russell Taylor from the partnership team for his help in achieving this". The minibus will allow the Cadets to involve themselves more with local SNT leaflet drops, community events, fetes, crime prevention talks and weekends away. The money raised was from various sources throughout Lambeth via the PTAC fund.
Lambeth Police Cadets currently have 62 (increased from 52 which was in previous circulation) young people who meet each and every week in 2 local Secondary Schools.
