Cricket Green Update 29 Aug 15:17
Cricket Green Ward update 29/08/2010 PRIORITY - Burglary Operation Lockdown continues on five wards on the borough. Cricket Green, Lavender Fields, Abbey, Colliers Wood and Figges Marsh were identified as those that would benefit most from additional resources for the duration of this three month period. The burglary initiative will employ a range of tactics to disrupt burglary, gain intelligence and arrest and convict offenders across the Borough. Whilst the number of burglary offences across the Borough remain relatively low, there has been a recent rise in the number of opportunist burglaries where entry has been gained through open windows and unlocked doors. The number of offences on Cricket Green ward has decreased as a result of recent arrests of burglars. This work will continue into October. PRIORITY - Theft from motor vehicle We are continuing with our drop in surgery at the Canons Leisure Centre on Madeira Road. The next one is on the 8th of September at 1900hrs. Feel free to drop in for advice or to speak to us about any other issues. PRIORITY - Anti-social behaviour Phipps Bridge Estate The team recently conducted a search warrant of an address in Albury Court and seized a pitbull type dog which was being kept illegally. The status dogs unit are dealing with the matter and the dog is currently in kennels. We will continue to identify and deal with any dogs that are being kept illegally. We are increasing patrols in stairwells and passageways across the ward as a result of increasing concerns about youths congregating and have obtained access keys to provide us with easier access to these areas. The safer transport team have been conducting screening arch operations around the tram stops and this type of activity will be continuing to deter criminals from carrying weapons. Searches for weapons are being conducted across the estate to try and identify any concealed items. These will continue in the future. MITCHAM FAIR The team organised and were involved in the policing of Mitcham Status Fair again this year. There was no reported crime at the fair and no disorder. The screening arches were used to deter people from attending with weapons and this seemed to work again. We aimed to provide a safe and family friendly location for this event and succeeded. IMMOBILISE During the course of our duties police regular recover property that we are unable to identify the owner. Even though we strongly suspect this property is stolen, without being able to identify the owner police are unable to prosecute the offenders or return the property to the rightful owners. Immobilize is the world's largest FREE register of possession ownership details forms a very effective tool in helping to reduce crime and repatriate recovered personal property to its rightful owners. Immobilize can be used by members of the public and businesses to register their valued possessions or company assets, and exclusive to Immobilize all account holders registered items and ownership details are viewable on the Police national property database. This online checking service is used by all UK Police forces to trace owners of lost and stolen property. In addition Immobilize is checked daily by a huge range of recovery agencies and lost property offices including the Transport for London Lost Property Office. I have attached the Immobilize web-site so that you can have a look for yourself, hopefully register, and record details of your property. Then if your property is lost or stolen, and comes into our possession, we can return it to you. http://www.immobilise.com/index.php Sergeant Dan Hutchings Cricket Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team 0208 6493576
