Officers from Sutton’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams spoke to dozens of residents and made around 50 ‘stops’ on individuals during a ‘Day of Action’ in Woodcote Road and Wallington Square. Officers made one arrest for a deception offence and also issued £80 Fixed Penalty Notices to two drivers for having no insurance and three drivers for not wearing a seat belt. The Day of Action occurred as a result of concerns raised by some residents following detailed engagement with the communities in Wallington. Residents had raised concerns about groups of youths and undesirable groups gathering, speeding vehicles, inconsiderate parking and litter. Insp Colin Baker said: "These days are all about high visibility policing to reassure the public that we are listening to what they are telling us and taking appropriate action."
