Dear members, I would like to inform you of recent burglaries on Trinity ward where suspects have gained entry through unlocked front and rear doors. If you do not double lock you doors suspects can use a device through the letterbox in order to open the door or steal items from within. Another possible entry (common in blocks of flats) is where suspects use a card to ‘swipe the lock’ in order to gain entry. Therefore it is very important to double lock all doors when you can, even when at home. We would also remind you to lock all windows when leaving your premises and to not leave any valuables on display. When in your homes, do not leave keys or valuables within easy reach of the door and we would advise you to keep vehicle keys hidden.
As part of our continuing efforts to reduce the number of burglary victims, Trinity Safer Neighbourhood’s Team will shortly be commencing a crime prevention initiative within the Ward. We will be offering all residents the opportunity of having an officer visit them in their homes to carry out a brief security survey. The survey will take about 15 minutes and is free of charge. It is entirely at your discretion whether you act upon any of the advice that is offered, but if you do it will reduce the possibility of you becoming a victim of burglary. All officers will be in uniform and will produce proof of their identity if required. If you would like a member of the team to call round, please contact the team to arrange an appointment.
