COLLIERS WOOD SAFER NEIGHBOURHOODS TEAM
Dear Resident, thank you for subscribing to community safe!
I would like residents to be aware of a black female approx 46 yrs of age 5’3 in height calls from door to door asking for money to pay for her electricity meter. This female will then attempt to gain entry to the premises where she will steal property. If any resident has any caller of this type then please call 999.
VEHICLE CRIME
Motorists are still leaving satellite navigation equipment in their vehicles or the sucker attached to the window. The equipment should be removed along with the sucker & the windscreen wiped clean to avoid vehicles being broken into.
We are working towards reducing burglary & robbery on the ward, which is low, & with the darker evenings upon us would urge residents to report any suspicious activity. We notice that there is increases in robberies around the Christmas period and therefore do Hi visibility patrols to combat this. Females are often the targets carrying their large handbags. If possible only carry a small amount of cash in a purse that can easily be carried in the pocket.
CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE
If you were locked out of your own house how easy would it be for you to get in? The ground floor window that doesn’t shut properly without any window locks the back door with the flimsy bolt. Many window & door locks are cheap and easy to fit. Any ladders should be padlocked so that burglars cannot use them. Lock up sheds & garages as garden tools are often used to force doors & windows.
